i think so because it makes one 'immune' to opponent'offences n depending on how you train yourself,i throw punches like pistols thanks to years of punching the walls. in a way overcomming the fear of pain when punching

No it doesn't. In fact, it tends to make you slower, and the bigger the muscles, the more energy they use and the faster you burn out.

As a Dan Grade in a number of martial arts, and having worked in clubs and other scenarios where violence was common place, being confronted by a body builder was fun - you just moved them about for a bit, let them burn themsleves out, and then you restrained them and removed them easily.

Weight lifting is an excellent way to improve your stamina and strength. Circuit type weight sessions will see your muscular endurance improve and also you can train for power.

Lifting weight is not necessarily getting big muscles. Its about improving motor efficiency and at the end of the day, if you end up on the floor wrestling, then you will need the strength to hold your opponent off.

Don't forget you get fit to fight, NOT fight to get fit!!!

As conditioning, yes, but not directly in real fighting where physical and non-physical skills are more important (example, brazilian jiu-jitsu).

In real life fights, the best strategy is start running since you do not know if your opponent has a gun. So do explosive running training!.

Lifting weights will make you stronger, but for indurance and getting quicker on the feet requires different exercises. The dot drill is good for quickness and endurance you could do something as simple as running or swimming.
